1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Koa app ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including free-tier users and subscribers.

2. Description of Service

Koa is an AI-powered recovery companion app designed to support men working to overcome pornography addiction. The Service includes AI chat support, daily journaling, check-ins, progress tracking, and an emergency support mode. The Service is available on iOS via the Apple App Store.

3. Medical Disclaimer

Koa is a wellness and self-improvement tool, not a licensed medical device or mental health treatment. Nothing in the Service constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The AI companion is not a therapist, counsellor, or healthcare provider.

You should always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional for any mental health concerns. If you are in crisis, please contact emergency services or call/text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Koa. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account immediately.

5. Subscription and Billing

Free Tier

Free accounts may send up to 3 AI chat messages per day. All other features (journaling, check-ins, progress tracking, emergency mode) are available without a subscription.

Premium Subscription

  • Monthly: $5.99 per month
  • Annual: $49.99 per year (save ~30%)
  • Free trial: 7-day free trial for new subscribers. You will not be charged during the trial period.

Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Renewal charges are processed through your Apple ID account.

Managing Your Subscription

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Koa. Cancelling stops future charges but does not provide a refund for the current billing period.

Refunds

All billing is handled by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
  • Abuse the emergency mode feature or use it for non-emergency purposes
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription limits through technical means
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the Service in a way that could harm yourself or others

7. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual Property

The Koa name, logo, app design, and all content created by Koa are owned by Koa and protected by intellectual property law. You retain ownership of the content you create (journal entries, messages). By using the Service, you grant Koa a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the Service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Koa and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of the State of Delaware.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
